Sweet and Sloppy Joes

  • Ingredients
    • 2 tsp. canola oil
    • 1 cup diced bell peppers
    • ½ cup diced onion
    • 1 lb. ground beef/turkey blend
    • 1 (8 oz.) can tomato sauce
    • ½ cup water
    • ½ cup raisins
    • 2 tsp. ancho chili powder
    • 1 tsp. dried oregano
    • ¼ tsp. salt
    • 4 whole wheat hamburger buns

    1. Heat oil in large nonstick skillet over medium heat until hot. Add bell pepper and onion and cook 3-4 minutes. Add ground meat to pan with onions and peppers and cook for 6-7 more minutes, until cooked, stirring occasionally. 1. Stir in tomato sauce, water, raisins, ancho chili powder, oregano and salt. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, 15 to 18 minutes or until sauce thickens slightly, stirring occasionally. 1. Evenly divide Sloppy Joe mixture on buns and serve.


    For gluten free: Use gluten free hamburger buns in place of whole wheat hamburger buns.
