Muffuletta Salad

Muffuletta Salad #festfoods

A muffuletta sandwich is one of my all-time favorites.  Why?  Because it has oodles of olives, which is the signature flavor of this classic New Orleans sandwich.  I thought it would be fun to deconstruct the sandwich and make it in to a fun salad {or dip} that is served with French bread.  What better way to celebrate a classic than tossing all the ingredients in one dish to be eaten by the spoonful?!

In addition to olives, the spread on the sandwich uses Italian olive salad, pepperoncini and/or capers and seasonings.   The ‘meat’ of the sandwich is typically provolone cheese and salami.  I chopped up all of those delicious ingredients and am mixing them together for one glorious salad, perfect for dipping! And, you will LOVE how simple it is.  Like I said, combine all of the ingredients together in a large bowl {minus the parsley}.

Stir it all together until you have a deliciously beautiful salad {and I won’t judge if you add extra Parmesan cheese} and let all of the flavors meld in the fridge.  Toss in the parsley right before serving on toasted French bread crostinis and enjoy!  You’ll feel like you’re in the French Quarter in NOLA!
