Sprouted grains are more easily digested, and the sprouting process increases the accessibility of nutrients like vitamin C, B vitamins, folate, fiber and even lysine – which is often lacking in whole grains.
Looking to get more out of your whole grains in 2018? Look no further than Festival’s new Sprouted Grain Breads from our Bakery Department. Sprouted grain products contain grains that are sprouting; meaning they’re at the middle stage between a seed and a full-grown plant. In order for a plant to “sprout,” an enzyme in the grain activates, which breaks down starch from the seed into simple pieces that the plant embryo can digest.
In fact, these enzymes also help with digestion in humans! These sprouted grains are more easily digested, and the sprouting process increases the accessibility of nutrients like vitamin C, B vitamins, folate, fiber and even lysine – which is often lacking in whole grains. This means that you can absorb and use these nutrients better when you get them from sprouted grains. So, your grains are doing more for you, which is pretty neat! These breads are great on a variety of sandwiches and dips, including our amazing muffuletta salad, which our dietitians made on a Local 5 Live segment.
Our bakery has several varieties of these sprouted grain breads, including Sprouted Wheat, Rye, Honey Wheat with Raisins, and Seven Grain. Pick up a loaf at your local Festival Foods, and get your grain on!
