Mark Skogen, Festival Foods’ president and CEO, expressed the company’s deep honor in backing veterans. This commitment goes beyond providing complimentary items on Veterans Day; Festival Foods proudly sponsors regular Heroes Cafes gatherings across various locations, sponsors a variety of veterans programs and events across the state, and designates special parking spaces for veterans.

Skogen emphasized, “It is a true honor for Festival Foods to stand by our veterans, not just on Veterans Day but each day throughout the year. It’s our heartfelt way of expressing gratitude for the sacrifices they’ve made for our nation.”

In collaboration with 11 vendor partners this Veterans Day, Festival Foods invites veterans to enjoy a tasty tribute. On Saturday, November 11, veterans visiting any Festival Foods location can pick up 12 free products that are available while supplies last with a $20 minimum purchase. This annual tradition is now in its sixth year and includes a diverse selection of items ranging from pizza and sliced ham to coffee and energy drinks.

The origins of this heartwarming tradition trace back to 2018 when Travis Tiedt of the Festival Foods buying team conceived the idea to support veterans with complimentary products. Tiedt shared, “We were aware that many of our vendors are committed to supporting their communities, especially veterans, just like we are. We approached Brew Pub, a local pizza vendor, to be part of a Veterans Day promotion. They agreed and before long, we had nine free products to offer veterans on Veterans Day in 2018.”

Tiedt’s initial goal was to offer “more than a meal” to veterans, and the response exceeded expectations. The retail value of the free items redeemed by veterans in 2018 exceeded $100,000, and over the years, it has continued to grow. In 2020, the number of free items redeemed increased to 12 products, and on Veterans Day in 2022, veterans received complimentary products with a remarkable retail value of $750,000.
