Chunky Fresh Guacamole
chunky, fresh guacamole with chips

This Chunky Fresh Guacamole is a tried-and-true, traditional guac recipe in which avocados take center stage. Filled with heart healthy fats and nearly 20 vitamins, minerals and phytonutrients, avocados are an awesome addition to any healthy lifestyle.

In this recipe, these deliciously creamy fruits (yes, avocados are a fruit!) combine flawlessly with chopped tomatoes, onion and cilantro, as well as fresh garlic, serrano peppers (for a little heat) and freshly squeezed lime juice. If you’ve never attempted to make homemade guacamole before, be sure to give this one a try!

Chunky Fresh Guacamole

  • 4 ripe, fresh avocados, seeded and peeled
  • 1 fresh lime, juiced
  • 1 medium tomato, chopped
  • ¼ cup finely chopped white or red onion
  • 2 fresh garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 serrano (or jalapeno) pepper, seeded and finely chopped
  • ¼ cup chopped fresh cilantro
  • ¼ tsp. ground cumin

  1. Place avocados in a bowl and mash with a fork, leaving some chunks.
  2. Add the remaining ingredients and mix well.
  3. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Serve.

Pro Tip: Guacamole is best made as close to serving as possible. For short-term storage, place a piece of plastic wrap against the surface of the guacamole and seal in an airtight container.
