There’s magic in the air as you stand at the top of the iconic lighthouse and watch the hundreds of fishermen competing to bring home the biggest and best, you squeal with delight as you sink your teeth into the first bite of their delicious catch, this is Walleye Weekend. [caption id="attachment_5885" align="aligncenter" width="231"] Lakeside Park is the home of this annual event.[/caption] [caption id="attachment_5886" align="aligncenter" width="393"] The lines are long at the popular Walleye Fish Fry![/caption] This year’s harvest festival of sorts greeted the local population with clear skies, a nice breeze, and just enough heat to make you thirsty – we couldn’t have asked for better weather. Among the sponsors for the biggest event in the city of just over 43,000 are the big dogs such as Mercury Marine and the slew of local radio stations sits the “new” kid at the table – Festival Foods. We opened our Fond du Lac location in 2007 and have been finding ways to involve ourselves in the community ever since. Keen observers will have spotted the Festival Foods van parked between the wooden bridge and the always popular bumper boats, or listed on the various banners throughout the park. Festival Foods is a proud sponsor of the VIP tent which is an oasis in the middle of all the festivities. Invited guests such as sponsor representatives, local officials, police and public safety workers enjoy a break with a beverage and some fantastic food from our deli. So you live in the area but have never been to Walleye Weekend? Stop by next year! Take a ride on the little train, pet the animals at the petting zoo, take your kids to the play area, eat some fresh fish, drink some beer, and listen to some great music. You won’t regret it!
