KENOSHA – What started as a joke while grocery shopping at Festival Foods is turning out to be a first-of-its-kind wedding for a southeast Wisconsin couple.
Rob Gorr, 45, said he joked with his fiancée, Kim Kavalauskas, that he would marry her “right here in the store,” during a recent trip to the Festival Foods at 3207 80th Street in Kenosha.
Now the two are getting married in a meeting room at the store on Feb. 13, just in time for Valentine’s Day. It’s the first wedding in Festival Foods’ 68-year history and something especially exciting for store employees.
“We’re just thrilled to help deliver a very special day for the happy couple,” said Travis Pitz, the assistant store director of the Festival Foods in Kenosha. “It’s a special request we received and our associates jumped at the chance to provide a great setting for a wedding.”
The union is a long time coming. Rob and Kim got engaged in August, but they have known each other their entire lives –their mothers were best friends and the soon-to-be husband and wife were born just nine months apart.
Their wedding ceremony is set to start at 5 p.m. at the Kenosha Festival Foods on Feb. 13 and then the couple, along with their guests, will share a meal at the store.
