trade_up_your_tailgate1 With football season in full swing, we hope there are some fun and spirited tailgates in your future! A great tailgate isn’t complete without friends, family and traditional football food, so let’s score some points with these touchdown trade-ups.

  trade_up_your_tailgate2 TOUCHDOWN TRADE UP #1: Burgers and Brats – Everyone loves a good burger or brat. The main idea in this category is to go lean! Choose a leaner ground beef, like ground sirloin, or go with ground turkey or chicken burgers. My favorite better-for-you brats are 100 Calorie Cher-Make Chicken Brats, which are fully cooked, so all you have to do is throw them on the grill for 7-10 minutes and enjoy! trade_up_your_tailgate3 TOUCHDOWN TRADE UP #2: Dips and Dippers – There are tons of dips on the shelf that are loaded with nutrition, like Wholly Guacamole® Classic Dip, which comes in a quick, easy peel and serve tray. Oasis Hummus is also a great dip option. It’s low in calories and comes in a wide variety of delicious flavors. When it comes to the dippers, fresh cut veggies are always a great choice, but there are also some better-for-you cracker and chip options, like Triscuit Hint of Salt Crackers and Beanitos® Original Black Beans Chips (gluten free), which are both 100% whole grain. trade_up_your_tailgate4 TOUCHDOWN TRADE UP #3: Snacks – Snacks are a staple at any tailgate party. With most snacks, it’s easy to chow down several servings before realizing you’re full. Shelling your own peanuts or pistachios automatically slows down munching, so you’ll be less likely to eat too many. Another great snack is air popped popcorn, which is also gluten free. 3 cups equals a serving of whole grains and just 90 calories. Sprinkle with your favorite seasonings for a fun snack that everyone will love!
