Every year at about this time, many of us look at the calendar and think “It’s December already?! Where has the year gone?”
The first few months of the year tend to be a little slower, then sometime during the summer and early fall we start to feel busier, and the next thing we know Thanksgiving is over and Christmas is here! As busy as our lives can get during these holiday months, at some point we should all take time to think back on the past year and remember what we have to be thankful for. Many of us immediately think on a personal level. We are thankful for family, our health, maybe a new job, and anything else significant from the last 12 months. Recently, the Festival team has thought about this as well. While all of us have individual things we are thankful for, we realized, professionally speaking, we have so much we are thankful for from the business point of view. The list could go on for hundreds of pages, so we decided to highlight four groups of people instead: our guests, our vendors, our business partners, and our employees.
Thank You to our Guests:
We appreciate all of you choosing to shop at Festival Foods. Your loyalty and honest feedback from your shopping experiences help us improve our customer service each year, and also helps us grow as a company. We understand you could shop many other places for your groceries and we are so happy to be your number one choice in Wisconsin! We hope our clean stores, friendly people, and quality products will continue Boomeranging you back to Festival. When you hear us say “thank you” multiple times while you are shopping, it’s because we are truly thankful we have earned your respect and your business.
Thank You to our Vendor Partners:
Vendors work long days and their job requires lots of traveling. For anyone unfamiliar with the grocery business, there are certain products Festival employees are responsible for stocking, and there are certain products vendors are responsible for stocking. Everything in the Wine & Spirits Department is stocked by vendors. In the meat department, we get weekly help from Soderholm and Kehe. Our bakery department works with Breadsmith. Our largest department, the grocery department, relies on help from multiple vendors every day. When popular products like 12 packs of Coke and Pepsi are on sale, Coke and Pepsi vendors visit our stores at least two or three times a day, sometimes more, to keep the shelves stock full of in demand products. Keeping 12+ aisles full each day is not an easy task! For that reason, we owe a huge thank you to 7-up, Kehe, Keebler, Nabisco, Sara Lee, Brownberry, Pan O Gold, Frito Lay, Old Dutch, Barrel of Fun, General Beer, Snyder’s, Lee Beverage, Natural Ovens, and so many others.
Thank You to our Business Partners:
With our newest store in Neenah opening several weeks ago, those of us in the eastern part of Wisconsin have been reminded how lucky Festival is to have strong support from other businesses. Super Valu and Belson supply us with many of the products on our shelves, and the plastic bags guests use to carry their groceries home. When a refrigeration alarm goes off telling us something is wrong in a perishable department, what do we do? We call John’s Refrigeration to the rescue! When we need to start construction for a new store, or do some remodeling on an existing store? De Leers is here to help. We also rely on Fast Signs to create professional signs displayed in our stores, and Intertech has been a huge help setting up the technological features in our stores. When a cash register suddenly stops working, we know to call North Country and we will get our answer. There are many more in addition to those mentioned above, and Festival is so thankful for your support. Your constant help and support allow us to be productive around the clock.
Thank You to our Employees:
Due to your hard work, dedication, and enthusiasm, we have been able to open and maintain 17 successful grocery stores. With the exception of Holmen, all of our stores are open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, closing only for Christmas Eve night and Christmas Day. We appreciate your working early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays. Many of you are working this job in addition to attending school, staying involved in the community, and still finding time for family and friends. We understand working in customer service can be a demanding job at times, and we are extremely thankful for everything you do on a weekly basis at work to help meet and exceed Festival and guest expectations. We are successful as a business because of all the individual jobs each of you do.
As you can see, our success at Festival is due to the hard work and support of everyone in our local Wisconsin communities. Whether you are a customer, local business, vendor, or employee, you are a key component in our success. Thank you for making 2012 our best year yet!
Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year from Festival Foods!
