In April, we told you that we’re heading to Janesville and now here we are, digging right in.
That’s right, we recently hosted an official groundbreaking ceremony at our future home to get things rolling at 2233 Humes Road, which was previously home to a Kmart. We’re demolishing that structure and building a new store that will open in the fall.
Mark Skogen, President and CEO of Festival Foods, spoke to the crowd who gathered for the recent ceremony.
“Janesville represents a key opportunity to expand our business and to better serve the growing number of our guests throughout the state. We are honored to become a member of this wonderful Wisconsin community, and we are excited about the economic impact that this new store will bring both through new construction and as an ongoing business operation for many years to come,” he said.
“The new store will exemplify Festival Foods’ continuing commitment to selection, pricing and service excellence,” Skogen said.
Similar to many of the company’s newest stores, the Janesville location will feature “green” equipment including LED and motion sensor lighting. The store also will have a seating area above the deli, a community conference room and a Tot Spot, which is Festival Foods’ supervised in-store child care service.
“In today’s marketplace, consumers have high expectations for the value they receive for their money as well as how they are treated,” said Skogen, who is pictured here — from left to right — with Mark Anderson, our company’s site analyst; Frank Abnet, Vice President of Store Operations; Kevin Schnell, the director of our Janesville store; Kirk Stoa, Executive Vice President and CFO.
The Janesville location will offer natural and organic foods, fresh sushi, a healthy-choices salad and hot food bar, an extensive deli as well as a great meat selection and catering services. The store will operate 24 hours a day and employ an estimated 250 associates.
“We are excited about the opportunity to offer Janesville guests value-driven pricing, a wide selection that includes healthy choices, and a great shopping experience.”
The Janesville store will be our 22nd location in Wisconsin. We’re looking forward to sharing plenty of new information in the coming months as this project moves ahead.
