Did you find everything today? Hopefully, that’s a question you hear as you’re checking out with your groceries at one of our stores in Wisconsin.
We know that grocery shopping can feel overwhelming at times and it’s easy to forget things on your list as you go through the aisles. And that’s exactly why we ask that question! We also see this time as an opportunity to help organizations in our community that do so much to help others.
At certain times of the year, we ask guests if they’re interested in buying so called ‘icons’ that support groups such as the Muscular Dystrophy Association and the Salvation Army, just to name two. We call them our “icon” campaigns and the associates in our stores, who live near where they work, help decide which local groups to include in our icon fundraising efforts each year.
It’s an important decision because we’ve got some incredibly generous guests. Last year alone, these campaigns raised more than $224,000 for community organizations. We’re excited to again offer this opportunity to groups in 2017.
Starting Saturday, Jan. 28, many of our stores — including those in the Appleton area, Fond du Lac, Manitowoc, Sheboygan, Marshfield, Eau Claire, Kenosha, Madison and others in the Southeastern part of the state, will offer icons to guests who want to support the Special Olympics of Wisconsin’s Polar Plunge.
myTEAM TRIUMPH, a group that builds community inclusion for people with diverse abilities through the teamwork approach of endurance athletics, was able to raise $11,000 in last year’s icon sale at our Green Bay area stores.
With that money, the group purchased two new adaptive race chairs! Christian Jensen, the leader of that group, will join us to talk about his amazing group and the partnership with Festival Foods during a live broadcast on Facebook at noon on Friday, Feb. 3, from our store on Green Bay’s north side.
During our conversation with Christian, we’ll also be talking about organizations across Wisconsin who will benefit from icon sales this year at Festival Foods stores everywhere from La Crosse to Kenosha to Green Bay to Marshfield. You’ll have to tune in to find out which organizations you’ll be able to support in 2017 at one of our local stores!
