Festival Foods

Here We Grow Again!
|

I am thrilled to announce that we will open our 15th store in September of 2011. The store will be built in Sheboygan, Wisconsin at the old Wal-Mart site on Taylor Drive. Work will begin soon, with the existing building being torn down in the next 30 days and then construction on the new 70,000 square foot store to follow. This new store will be very similar to the store built in Suamico, which opened in October of 2010, including the energy efficient improvements, green initiatives, and guest-friendly layout that make it great! Deciding to build a new store in a new community is a decision that we take very seriously. While it worked in the movie, we know that “if you build it they will come” isn’t a good business strategy. We will have to earn the patronage of Sheboygan citizens and we plan to do that by assembling a team of associates for the new store that will create a shopping experience that is special. I know a lot of retail stores would say they are trying to do something similar, but I truly believe that Festival makes it happen. The team will consist of approximately 225 associates. A handful of those will be Festival associates that will transfer from one of our other stores, but the majority will be new hires. All new hires will work in an existing Festival Foods store before the Sheboygan store opens so they are familiar with their daily work tasks and understand the importance we place on taking care of our guests’ needs. In my last blog I talked about the grocery industry and the type of personality that would thrive in the grocery retail environment. If you read that and thought “that’s me!” I encourage you to complete an online employment application. We are excited to be part of the Sheboygan community and look forward to building great new relationships there with our guests, vendors, and associates!
