Getting adults to eat their fruits and vegetables is a difficult task. Getting kids to eat their fruits and vegetables takes difficulty to whole new level. In the world we live in today, eating fruits and vegetables (which we like to call FNV) is simply just not as glamorous and exciting as eating the newest flavor of chips on the shelf, or cookies endorsed by athletes. However, a revolution has started. Fruits and veggies is a brand now, and it’s being endorsed by the loved and trusted Sesame Street characters in our 20 Festival Foods stores, as well as by celebrities on Team FNV. Jicama (HICK-ah-mah): Jicama is a root veggie that you’ve probably seen in the produce department and walked by many times without ever really noticing it. The thin brown skin on this turnip-shaped vegetable hides deliciously crisp, juicy white flesh underneath. Jicama is mild in flavor, sort of like a cross between a water chestnut and a pear, so it’s awesome to simply slice up and have your kids dip with or use in this delicious Red, White and Blue Salsa recipe.


Zucchini: Prevalent in the summer season, zucchini is a very versatile veggie that can be used to make lots of family favorites, including lasagna stuffed zucchini and zucchini pizza bites. Shred it up into to make zoodles (zucchini noodles) and use in pasta recipes, or shred it up even finer and hide in baked goods, meat sauce, meatloaf and more!
