Festival Foods purchases Sentry Foods in Kenosha County

Festival Foods plans to purchase Sentry Foods in Paddock Lake, Wisconsin. With a population of 3,000, the village of Paddock Lake is located approximately 18 miles east of Lake Geneva and 14 miles west of Kenosha.

Festival Foods, which operates 22 locations throughout the state, including its newest store in Madison, plans to call this store Lakeside Sentry and begin operations May 10. Unlike other Festival Foods, the 27,500-square-foot store will maintain the Sentry Foods brand.

Mark Skogen, President and CEO of Festival Foods, said the company is eager to welcome the new location and its associates. “We are pleased that we were able to reach an agreement with current owners Marv and Alison Jenkins that will result in a continuation of family-owned grocery stores in the area now and far into the future. We are looking forward to serving Sentry Foods’ guests at the store.”

Skogen added that the Paddock Lake area represents a key opportunity to better serve Festival Foods’ growing customer base throughout southeast Wisconsin. “We are honored to become a member of this great Wisconsin community,” Skogen said.

Marv Jenkins said he and his wife, Alison, were approached by several companies that expressed interest in buying their store due to growth in the region.

“We’ve resisted these efforts until Festival Foods showed interest. We knew Festival Foods would be a fit because of their reputation of integrity and commitment to the best perishable departments in the upper Midwest. We knew that the customers we loved and valued, as well as the wonderful employees who have worked with us over the years, would benefit greatly by this transition. We are proud to ‘pass the baton’ to a wonderful, family-and employee-owned company like Festival Foods.”
