Festival Foods opening in Madison: We have a date

The new Festival Foods grocery store in Madison, located at 810 East Washington Ave., is expected to open Friday, April 8.

Madison Mezz

The store will be Festival Foods’ 22nd location in Wisconsin. It will offer natural and organic foods, fresh sushi, a healthy salad and hot food bar as well as an extensive deli and catering services. It also features a seating area above the deli (shown in the photo above), a community conference room and a Tot Spot, which is Festival Foods’ supervised in-store child care service.

Each day, the store will be open from 5 a.m. to midnight and employ an estimated 200 associates, but on April 8 our doors will open at 6 a.m.

Madison Perishables

The store will have a complete selection of groceries, meats and produce. While that location continues to look more a grocery store each day, as you can see in the photos, the company has been part of that community since the Festival Foods Shake the Lake event last summer. And Festival Foods again this summer will sponsor the unique summertime event that culminates with one of its signature fireworks shows.

Similar to many of the company’s newest stores, the Madison location features Orion skylights and “green” equipment, including LED and motion sensor lighting. This store also introduces an additional element to further reduce its carbon footprint at this location – the use of round timber in place of steel or concrete for the structural frame, beams and trusses of the building. By repurposing ash trees around Madison that had to be removed due to the emerald ash borer, Festival Foods is able to offer a beautiful alternative to traditional structural materials. WholeTrees® partnered with Festival Foods on the unique project.

According to Mark Skogen, president and CEO of Festival Foods, the company eagerly anticipates the opening of its newest store.

“Madison represents a key opportunity to expand our business and to better serve our growing customer base throughout southeast Wisconsin. We are honored to become a member of this wonderful Wisconsin community,” said Skogen, who added that the new store will exemplify Festival Foods’ continuing commitment to selection, pricing and service excellence.

“In today’s marketplace, consumers have high expectations for the value they receive for their money as well as how they are treated. We are excited about the opportunity to offer Madison guests value-driven pricing, a wide selection that includes healthy choices, and a great shopping experience.”

Details about employment opportunities at the Madison location are available online here. Festival Foods will host open interviews for a variety of part-time and full-time opportunities at that store. The open interviews will be held from 8 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 3, and Friday, March 4. Open interviews also will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 5. All interviews will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton, located at 525 West Johnson Street in Madison.

More information about this store will be announced as it becomes available.
