Festival Foods’ bagger WINS Wisconsin, advances to national competition

This is Cade Lambrecht. He’s the best grocery bagger in Wisconsin.

Cade, a bagger at the Darboy Festival Foods, which is just outside of Appleton, won the Great Wisconsin Bag-Off competition held this week in Milwaukee as part of the Wisconsin Grocers Association meeting.

He emerged from a field of 15 to win the title, making it the second time in recent years that a Festival Foods’ bagger made it to the national contest in Las Vegas, which is part of the National Grocers Association meeting there in February.

Check out Cade’s winning moments during the contest that was held Oct. 12. Want even more? You can go back and catch all the action on the Festival Foods’ Facebook page where we provided a live broadcast of the contest as it happened.

Participants were judged on everything from the speed they filled bags with groceries to “proper bag building technique” to their overall style, attitude and appearance to uniform bag weight.

Tesia, now our front end manager at our Madison location, has a great explanation of the way judges evaluate bagging competition participants.

Cade was among a group of four Festival Foods baggers who competed in this week’s contest. Other Festival Foods’ baggers who participated in the contest:

  • Regan Earny from our De Pere store
  • Rachel Richter from our Madison store
  • Andrew Jarrett from the La Crosse-Village store

1013-work-phone-031 We’re so proud of Cade, Rachel, Regan and Andrew as well as the incredible group of our managers and leaders who came out and loudly cheered on these great baggers!
