Eat Well Wednesday: A Better Burger

Happy New Year!  Are you one of the many people who made a health-related resolution for 2013?  Whether your goal is to lose weight, cook more meals at home, or simply eat smarter, this Ranch Turkey Burger recipe from Perdue® might be just the ticket for you!  These burgers get a healthy makeover by using freshly ground turkey breast from our Meat Department  instead of higher fat ground beef.  Also, the fresh veggies, dry ranch dressing mix, and oatmeal add great flavor while keeping the burgers moist.  

Ranch Turkey Burgers


1 lb. fresh ground turkey breast

½ cup finely diced button mushrooms

¼ cup finely minced onion

1 pkg. (1 oz.) dry ranch dressing mix

½ cup quick cooking oats

2 Tbsp. skim milk


  1. In a large bowl, mix all ingredients well. Form into 4 patties (patties will be wet).
  2. Place on a lightly oiled grill and cook over medium high direct heat for about 10 minutes, flipping halfway through cooking time. Burgers are done when a meat thermometer inserted into the center reaches a minimum internal temperature of 165°F.
  3. Serve on whole wheat buns with your favorite burger toppings.
