The Dietitian’s Top Pick: Fresh Cut Pineapple And, since June is National Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Month, Festival’s dietitians are sharing all kinds of fruit and veggie information, fun facts, and recipes on our blogs, Twitter, Facebook, and Periscope, so be sure to stay tuned! This week, I’m talking about pineapple. Pineapple is one of my favorite fruits because it’s a great source of Vitamin C, and I love the tropical taste. Plus, bromelain, the enzyme naturally found in pineapples, works as a great meat tenderizer, making pineapple juice a great option for marinades. But pineapple is a fruit that I rarely buy in its whole form because cutting it up seems like such a daunting task. Luckily, Festival’s Fresh Cut pineapple is here for me to make sure I get my fresh, juicy, and perfectly sweet pineapple, with almost no cutting required. Each individual package contains a whole pineapple, with the tough outer layer (aka pericarp) and inner core removed. The hard work is all done for you!
