Shake things up a bit this week with a delicious twist on traditional grilled cheese. Ready in less than 20 minutes, this flavor-filled sandwich is sure to please. Try pairing this scrumptious sandwich, packed with crisp Granny Smith apple slices and smoky melted Gouda, with a warm bowl of our Apple Carrot Ginger Soup or Butternut Squash Soup.
20 Minute Meals:
Apple Gouda Grilled Cheese
Nonstick cooking spray
4 Tbsp. honey
2 Tbsp. Dijon mustard
8 slices whole wheat raisin bread, like Festival’s Sprouted Grain Honey Wheat (or gluten free bread for gluten free)
8 slices of Gouda cheese (or Daiya® Smoked Gouda Style Block for dairy free)
1 large Granny Smith apple, sliced thinly, divided
4 tsp. butter (or coconut oil for dairy free), softened
- Preheat table top grill or sandwich press coated with nonstick cooking spray.
- In a small bowl, mix together honey and Dijon mustard. Evenly distribute and spread honey mixture onto one side of each slice of bread.
- Top each slice of bread with one slice of Gouda cheese. Divide apple slices and place onto four slices of bread. Top apples with remaining four slices of bread and cheese to complete sandwiches.
- Place sandwiches onto grill or sandwich press and cook until cheese is melted, about 4-5 minutes. Serve warm.
