It’s time to buy your annual poinsettia. We have them in the stores and they’re ready to go. I really do think they make a great gift and add a very nice touch to all of your holiday decorating. So everyone can enjoy their poinsettias as long as possible, I would like to offer a couple reminders on how to care for them.
Light: Give poinsettias as much light as possible. They are a tropical plant so placing them near a sunny window is best.
Temperature: Poinsettias are temperature sensitive, so it’s best to keep them between 65 and 75 degrees during the day. Avoid placing your poinsettia in cold drafty areas or next to hot air vents. When leaving the store, please ask your cashier for a plastic bag to cover your plant before venturing out and exposing it to the cold air.
Water: Give your poinsettia water only when the surface feels dry to the touch, but be careful not to overdo it. Too much water can cause as much leaf drop as being too dry. Be sure to only water the soil, keeping the flowers and foliage dry at all times.
I hope everyone has a great holiday season!
