Agua Fresca

Agua Fresca, or “fresh water” in Spanish, is a refreshing, fruity drink that’s easy-to-make and perfect for staying hydrated this warm-weather season!

Although you can add traditional agave nectar (or your favorite sweetener) to taste, we enjoy our two variations with just the subtle hint of natural sweetness from added fruit.

Strawberry Cucumber Agua Fresca

Ingredients:

  • 1 cucumbers, peeled and chopped
  • 1 package strawberries, tops removed
  • 1 lime, juice of
  • 2 cups cold water

Directions:

  1. Place cucumbers, strawberries, lime juice and water to a blender. Blend until smooth.
  1. Pour liquid through a fine mesh strainer into a pitcher and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Serve over ice.

Yield: 4 servings

Agua Fresca

Watermelon Agua Fresca

Ingredients:

  • 6 cups watermelon, chopped
  • 1 lime, juice of
  • 1 cup water
  • ⅓ cup fresh mint (or basil)

Directions:

  1. Place watermelon, lime juice and water into a blender. Blend until smooth.
  2. Pour liquid through a fine mesh strainer into a pitcher. Add mint (or basil) and refrigerate for 30 minutes. Serve over ice.

Yield: 4 servings
